Beautiful Aging in Place Design Bathroom Remodel Prevents Falls and Anticipates Homeowner’s Future Needs
This now inviting master bath and closet had not been renovated since it was built 25 years ago, so the homeowner was ready for a change. To ensure the ability for the homeowner to remain in the home (aging in place), and to increase the home’s market value, 55+ TLC Interior Design, LLC created a space plan, compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, that would accommodate mobility devices. Our custom-designed, wheelchair-accessible vanity features granite countertops, dual undermount sinks and easy-access storage. Mirrors and a trio of sconces echo the vanity’s height variation.
Wider doorways, a curbless shower, accessible linen and wardrobe closets, and abundant lighting improve accessibility and functionality. Slip-resistant flooring and support bars help prevent slips and falls.
