New living quarters were created so the homeowner’s sister-in-law could move in. Both ladies, in their 90s and Holocaust survivors living with dementia, were excited about being able to live together, along with their caregivers. An ADA-compliant first-floor floor plan was designed for a new master suite complete with an accessible toilet and curbless shower, accessible custom vanity and wardrobe closet, wide hallways, a powder room in the main living area, and a level living room (previously sunken) to help prevent falls. Beautiful senior-friendly materials, fixtures and finishes were installed, and dementia-supportive interior design techniques were also incorporated.
